South African wine producers defiantly multiply
South Africa has arguably the best national wine guide of all in the annual Platter Guide pocket book which, with increasing difficulty, tries to report on every single South African wine and wine producer. Given the unusual, and in my view admirable, emphasis that the Wines of South Africa team are now putting on the diversity of South Africa’s different growing regions (for some reason they dare not use the word terroir), it seems strange to me that the Platter Guide has given so little emphasis to the geographical provenance of each wine.
