Attempt at peaceful Lebanon/Israeli wine tasting fails

A Tasting in the Name of Peace of Lebanese and Israeli wines had been planned at London’s Vinopolis next week, an admirable example of wine’s doing its bit for world harmony. But I’m told that political pressure has been applied to the Lebanese wineries and that they have now withdrawn. What a shame. The idea was that of ‘ International Wine-Culture promoter’ Illi Adato who had been working with producers in Israel as well as Lebanon for many years and closely followed recent considerable wine developments in the region. He thought he had gathered wine producers on both sides of the border to take part...
