At the same time as my second tranche of tastings of Brunello di Montalcino 2009, I also had a look at Rosso di Montalcinos, mainly 2012 but some 2011s and 2010s, too.

I truly like Rosso di Montalcino as a category. Sure, it is not cheap, although it retails at roughly half the price of Brunello. But when chosen carefully, these wines deliver real value for money.
