Forty-ish 2003 vintage ports assessed

See my overview of the 2003 vintage and the vintage port market  and Roy Hersh of Seattle's excellent report at www.fortheloveofport.com    There’s no doubt that this was a very ripe vintage, with very few out and out disappointments even among some of the lesser names – in fact some of these lesser names did really well in this blind tasting. My two concerns are that some wines are so lush and opulent and full of ripe fruit that it’s all but impossible to discern the tannin that will keep them going for a long life.
