Pink Dom P and other superior champagnes

Notes on the three vintages of Dom Pérignon rosé which its mastermind Richard Geoffroy chose to serve at the recent launch of the 1996 at the Fat Duck, together with some of the more notable older champagnes tasted recently. Please note that I will be publishing a much fuller report on current releases later this month. Dom Pérignon Rosé 1996 Champagne 17.5 Drink 2007-16? Quite vivid pale tomato colour. Edge of smokiness on the nose – woodsmoke? Definite Pinot Noir character. A hint of black fruit flavours but still quite tight. Much broader than the regular ‘white’...
