Tasting notes on those Kloster Eberbach treasures
Here are long last are my tasting notes from that amazing dinner and tasting of Rheingau rarieties described in wine news at the end of April. It was the most extraordinary event but my notes were scrawled on the menu so it has taken some time to find someone, the highly qualified and under-employed Ashika Cobham, to find the time and inclination to transcribe them, and then for me to be able to fill in the gaps.
Every time a new course was served, the room of 20-odd wine enthusiasts (one bottle of each wine) fell silent. And there had of course to be a fulsome speech of thanks to the local president who had personally...
