Galicia in the north west corner of Spain is bubbling when it comes to wines. Ribeiro, known in ancient times as Ribadavia, was the classical region here. The Albariño from Rías Baixas has already reached most parts of the planet. But there's a lot more to Galicia than that. Of course there is a big chunk of coast with Atlantic influence, but there's even more inland, from the appellations of Valdeorras, Ribeira Sacra and Monterrei. And even if the whites are better known, all regions within Galicia also produce reds, often, as with the whites, from local grape varieties.
