White Pomerol?
21 Jan 2004 by JR
Bart Clayford of UK question: Are you able to produce a white wine in St Emilion or Pomerol and name these appellations on the label? The question comes from a friend in Italy who is about to take his sommelier exams. answer: No. If white wine is produced inside the St Emilion, Pomerol, or and Medoc appellation, it has to be labelled plain old AC Bordeaux (as, for example, Pavillon Blanc de Ch Margaux and Aile d'Argent of Ch Mouton-Rothschild are). I like easy questions like this. J
