Fuder numbers
24 Jan 2004 by JR
karen goetz of usa question: I am interested in "Fuder numbers" and the potential for distinguishing character among wines made from within the same vineyard (Germany, riesling). I understand that this number represents a specific large cask in the winery. I enjoy deciphering AP numbers but I'm not always sure that I am correctly identifying the Fuder: is the Fuder number always contained within the AP number or can it be found elsewhere on the label? Is the location of Fuder number on labels somewhat idiosyncratic?...
