The obduracy of 1986 bordeaux

Recently at a blind tasting at a friend's house I was stunned to find what appeared to be a young, tannic yet delicious Pauillac (at least I got that right) to be none other than 1986 Ch Lynch Bages.
I have had this twice before. Once on my thirtieth birthday in 1997 which as I recalled was very similar but more evolved and utterly delicious.
