Crises in Bordeaux

Pieter Vitse, Belgium: The crisis in 1974 in Bordeaux was the effect of the previous vintages 1972 and 1973. 1997 was also a lesser year in Bordeaux and was sold for too high a price on the market but the consumer was not disappointed and bought the next years also. Why was there no crisis in Bordeaux at the end of the previous century? me: I think if you were to talk to a Bordeaux merchant today he would admit that Bordeaux is currently in, if not crisis, then certainly a pickle. He would not like to use the C-word of course and would dissimulate, using words like 'difficult' etc. But 2001 and 2002 were very difficult...
