Will the French ever irrigate?

James Stark, UK: Irrigation - I have read the Oxford entry on this and I understand the objections to it . Why though is there no provision in France for irrigation in exceptional circumstances like 2003? I imagine that carefully controlled irrigation might have turned 2003 into a great vintage from a potentially over concentrated curiosity. me: I wouldn't mind betting that irrigation (which is already allowed for young vines in certain areas...
