Are earlier vintages ever blended in?
Martin Nettleton, UK: I feel suitably chastised for doubting the mighty WSET!! (although less happy that the first growths I have bought may be a cocktail of wines from different vintages). I guess the key questions that arise are, which wines are 100% the product of a specific year's weather and conditions and which are not? The second is, do the winemakers blend fermented wines, if so are these arrested or are they maturing and if not, how do they maintain the freshness of the must and do they...
