How many wine brands are there?
George Vierra, Napa Valley: Years ago, I saw a map of Bordeaux. It showed that in a 50 mile radius of its centre there were approximately 50,000 wineries. That may have included brands, and may have since changed. What is your guess as to the total number of winery facilities and brands in all the wine producing countries of Europe and the Middle East? My guess is, near a million. me: I see that the Harpers wine trade directory published in the UK lists about 120,000 wineries worldwide, but mainly in Europe. That must be a only a small proportion of the total, although probably about 70 per cent of the internationally significant...
