Where to buy wine in N and S California
Mark Nepstad, San Francisco: Greetings from San Francisco! I'm a Brit who moved to this city from London over Christmas. Having been a great fan of European wine, I'm slowly getting to know some Californian wines - especially the reds. From the ones that I've tried - around 30 to date - my overall impression is that most are big, bursting with fruit, have a high alcohol content and, at the risk of being controversial, expensive. I know there are some real gems out there and would be grateful if you could recommend a few wine makers who produce a more European style of wine.
