Fine Chilean Pinot - no oxymoron

Max Eyzaguirre, Chile: I was reading Burgundy 2003 - a very rum vintage and stumbled on this comment from Bernard Hervet of BP&F: “We called the technical team together and said, do we want to make a monster like a Chilean wine, or do we want to make great burgundy?”  I was quite surprised to see that even French wine professionals have a big bias and are very un-knowledgeable on Chile’s wines and geography.     Chile has some good Pinot Noirs. Yes, there are some “monsters” just as there are also some really “veggie” Pinots from Burgundy. Many a time I have paid large sums for third-rate burgundy. I admit...
