Two James's, two views on 1998 Rhônes

James Stark, UK: I was interested to read the evidently disappointing results of the 1998 Rhônes . I am now counting myself fortunate not to have any except for a few bottles of Gigondas Domaine St Gayan although I have not been disappointed with this wine. In my experience the Les Meysonniers showed well in its youth but my case is long since drunk up. On a more general note, is this just a problem with this vintage or are fine Rhônes maturing earlier?
