Red St Aubin and other white burgundy appellations

John Liles, Cheshire: My wife likes St Aubin, so I was after some St Aubin 2002 white burgundy from Marc Colin. This was sold out but I tried some 2001 RED from the same producer - not too expensive at £112 a dozen - which was just as well as I found it pale, thin and astringent! I assume it will not improve? Your comments would be appreciated. PS I ended up with St Aubin white 2002 from Vincent Girardin 'En Remilly' OK but thought his 2000 was better. me: In a way I’m surprised by a partiality for St Aubin since its chief attribute in most vintages, I have always thought, is value rather than absolute quality, but your wife is...
