So what about 1999 burgundies?

Joe Asch, Hanover, NH: While you are thinking about the ageing of red burgundies , do you have any sense of when the 1999's will come around. I have had wines from village and 1er cru vineyards from Roumier, Aubert de Villaine, and Geantet-Pansiot in the last few months and all are very primary: full of rich, unstructured fruitĀ  in the nose and mouth, but with few secondary flavours. The French critics loved the 1999 vintage. Any thoughts on the evolution of these wines? me: I'm very keen on this vintage myself but am not opening many for the moment. I think it's a slow burner. Much better to drink up the 2000s, and 1998s and...
