What's in the world's wine lake?

Patricia, London: Absolutely loved the summary comments on the global surplus .  But we all know statistics are "lies, lies, and..."  So we can make stats say almost anything we wish.  I wonder how much of all this wine is actually drinkable or, perhaps more relevant to purple pagers, has a vestige of interest or typicity. Maybe Mr "Superplonk" Gluck would like to comment?  I suppose we are back to the debate about whether wine is a "beverage" for consumption like milk or Coca-Cola, or whether it is more than that.  I guess one could argue that much surplus wine, as an "agricultural product", could be exported to developing...
