Finding and assessing dry German Rieslings

Damien Casten, Candid Wines, IL: Writing about wines from the Rheinhessen , you asked: "Wouldn’t it be nice if wine importers fell over themselves to find these wines?"  No! Then how would small fish like Candid ever be ahead of the curve?  Joking aside, I am thrilled to read your enthusiasm and that of others. Thanks to a new German importer based in the area, we've got our first container of Kerner halbtrocken and an intriguing Riesling Spätlese trocken on the way to Chicago.  I am not sure about the market for these wines, but they were too good and too well priced...
