Sherry's colouring agents and a palo cortado definition

Arthur Black, Indianapolis: I have a question regarding colouring agents used in sherry production. Though I've been able to find information on vino de color, I have been unsuccessful in finding anything on color de macetilla and color de remendado. I would greatly appreciate any information about the nature of color de macetilla and color de remendado, the typicity of their use, and to what genres of sherry they apply. Also, I recently learned that palo cortado can be classified as dos, tres, so on...according to their age. None of the resources I have discuss any sort of palo cortado classification.
