Scalping - a hot topic

Steven Dutton, Germany: Re A Guide to Wine Faults.  I read the article but was left wondering about one fault not mentioned. Many months ago, in the free bit of the site, I read a very long technical article  from an Australian source [Jeffrey Grosset], along with comments of yours (I believe).  There was a cork-related fault referred to as "scalping", which I believe had to do with the abscence of flavours.  However, there was no further mention made as far as I could see.  I wonder if this is the problem I have encountered several times, whereupon a bottle is opened, and the wine  is basically vapid. No off-putting...
