Romanian names for Muscat Blanc - really
17 Aug 2005 by JR
David Churchill, Toronto: Hello Jancis, there's a 'raging' debate here at Vintages [LCBO's fine wine arm] regarding the Romanian grape Tamiioasa Romaneasca. In the '99 Oxford, you say "Tamiioasa Romaneasca is another Romanian synonym for Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains..." The debate is that others, including Hugh Johnson, claim it is either 'indigenous' or 'like Muscat'. My question is (and there's a bottle of it riding on this), is it Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains or is it not? Thanks, as always. me: Here's the relevant entry for the next edn of the Oxford Companion to Wine which I am very happy to share so long as it...
