When to drink a Riesling Kabinett
Aeyal Gross, Tel Aviv: Can you help with inputs as to the ageing of German Rieslings? You had a report back in May but I am looking for more general insights. I realize vintages vary, but the rules of thumb I seem to come up with are that it will make sense to drink Spätlese for the first three to four years after vintage and then from when they about eight to 10 years on, while when it comes to Auslese it is best to wait until the wine is about 10 years old. (In any case I am not talking about trocken wines). How about Kabinett though? I've been enjoying them young, but can they also age through a decade? I have some Egon Müller...
