Rolland at Smith Haut Lafitte
Chris Williams, Meerlust winemaker, South Africa: I enjoyed your note on the Smith Haut Lafitte 1997 , but just thought I would let you know that I worked with Michel Rolland in 1997 and we definitely went to Smith Haut Laffite at least twice on consultancy visits during the harvest. I have not tasted subsequent vintages of this wine and so cannot tell you if Rolland has made his presence felt more in these later vintages. me: Thanks a lot! Useful inside information indeed. Let's say not the most typically Rollandian SHL then.
