This year's shot berries in Germany

Robert Jones MS, Kysela, Richmond VA: I was reading David Schildknecht's report on the 2005 vintage in Germany and came across this statement ... "2005 at mid-point: Flowering was timely but spun out by cool weather, making for sparse bunches with lots of shot berries. So far, so good...." I spent six days in the middle Mosel and Rheingau at the end of June, and everywhere, from Piesport to Brauneberg, on to Bernkastel, and west through Graach, Zeltingen and Urzig, were the most perfectly fertilized bunches one could hope for. Ditto for the Rheingau, from Erbach west to Vollrads. I took many pictures of the bunches,...
