What Martin did in Le Marche
11 Sep 2005 by JR
Martin Nettleton, Yorkshire: Back from Le Marche and reporting as promised.  Firstly, what a beautiful place!  The coast may leave a bit to be desired in parts (railway and motorway!!) but just a few miles inland and the hills/mountains begin.  There are over 150 hilltop towns, one of which, Santa Vittoria in Mattenano, was our base.  An hour's drive away are the Appennine ski resorts.  Staggering views abound. On the wine front, we visited a number of producers and the outstanding one for me was Dezi, of Servigliano (very close to Sa Vitt.).  Besides a blended white and a basic Montepulciano, they have two top cuvees in Solo...
