Does Sainsbury's deserve to be UK Supermarket of the Year?
George Biswas, Virginia Water: With Wine magazine's IWC (International Wine Challenge) results officially out, I am surprised to see Sainsbury's being nominated Supermarket of the Year 2005. All I have noticed in the Sainsburys stores in my area has been a considerable reduction in the range of wines on the shelves, the removal of the small 'fine wine rack' and a complete absence of anyone with wine knowledge. Local Waitrose stores by contrast, despite being smaller, have a wider range of wines that are better presented and at least have helpful staff with some wine knowledge on hand.
