Rieslings that you shouldn't age?

David Morgan, UK: I have a general and then a specific question about the ageing of white wines, prompted by your recent Tesco better buys piece: - What principles do you apply when tasting a young white wine in order to estimate its ageing potential? I find it very difficult to judge this with Chardonnays, in particular. - One thing I thought I 'knew'(!) was that well-made Rieslings, at least those from the traditional Alsace/German vineyards in a good vintage, could age for five years or more almost as a birthright.
