Tears, legs and runny things inside the glass

David Honeywill, Surrey: A question about "tears" or "legs". I am confused over the significance of tears being left on the inside of the glass after swirling. Could you please explain what causes it? I have noticed recently that some wines (usually young wine eg Felton Road Riesling 2003) leave large "drops" rather than "legs", why is that? Will this change as the wine matures? In my view the drops are not as appealing as legs, but does it matter? me: I have a sense of déjà vu over this question but can't locate a similar predecessor.
