The US market - where do all the German wines go?

Steve Dutton, Germany: While in California and Oregon , being a curious type, I visited quite a number of wine shops, and did not really find any great selection of German wines. In any case, only one or two halbtrockens, and not a single trocken. Seeing David's reports in RP [first Steve Tanzer's International Wine Cellar and then Robert Parker's Wine Advocate ], it is obvious that a lot of these wines are being imported, but where on earth do they end up?
