Can a bottle become 'corked' in minutes?
Simon Tam, Hong Kong: Just how long does it take for TCA to leach from cork to wine? In a recent show for picnic desperation where none of us 'professionals' had a corkscrew, one of my more resourceful friends pushed the cork into a bottle of young South African Viognier. The first round pour was fragrant and long. We topped up a couple of empty cups with the cork floating in the wine.The second pour was positively flat and the length had been stripped away. The usually classy Foundry Viognier became corked in front of our collective eyes! Has this happened to anyone else??? In light of the recent Parker/Aussie pingponging it...
