Old Las Cases, and decanting cradles

Peter O'Neill, US: I just took delivery of a lot of older Leoville Las Cases that I bought at auction - 2 '66s, 4 '78s, 6 '79 and a solitary, lonely bottle of 1970. I have read a couple of articles advising owners of older wines to use a decanting cradle and not stand the bottle upright to avoid disturbing sediment when uncorking. Any thoughts? And if you agree, how old should the wine be before one should start thinking about this? Thanks. Any thoughts on the vintages would be welcome too. My research suggests I should be glad to have only one bottle of the 1970. me: I can certainly see the logic of using a decanting...
