What to drink with roast goose

As my birthday is on Christmas Day, I always want something extra-special with my goose. This has led to some expensive disasters (such as the complete overshadowing of my birth year - 1966 - Latour) as well as some moderate successes. I am at my wits' end for this year. I have some '89 Clos St Hune VT, which I thought might go. I have a solitary bottle of '78 La Chapelle, which may defeat the Goose in hand-to hand combat, but may not provide a great deal of pleasure. What, in an ideal world, would you serve with simple roast goose, gravy and trimmings? No complicated sauces or fancy stuffings to complicate...
