Cristal champagne and decanters

I read of celebrity Christmas bashes and Cristal champagne. Horrendously expensive but is it any good? Secondly a friend used to say that bad wine needs decanting and good wine deserves it and I was wondering about your thoughts. Lastly Majestic wine are selling Nicolas Feuillatte Champagne 1999 for £29.99 a bottle or £29.98 for two. Thanks as always for your help and an interesting site.
