As for the courtesy of the growers, I've found most of them to be perfectly friendly. Mme Moncuit has always been prepared to show off the full range of her wines. Although a non-English speaker, be warned: she knows exactly what the words 'harsh' and 'a bit green' mean (comments on the basic Cuv é e which rounded out beautifully after a couple of month in the cellar).
