The characteristic taste of 2003

Frank Sinkwich III, GA: Call me crazy but ... I have tasted several different 2003 burgundies from various villages, at all vineyard levels from various producers in the CĂ´tes de Nuits and they seem to exhibit a very pronounced menthol/eucalyptus character that I have not come across so often before in burgundy. As I chart the progress from month to month it seems as though this pronounced flavour is transforming into a raspberry flavour. Also I have tasted some 2003 Tuscans that exhibit a pronounced raspberry flavour. Is this a predominant flavour of the vintage and does this reflect the element of sunburnt grapes?  ...
