What happens to winery waste?
Tamlyn Currin, Woking, UK: I read with interest in the news on Decanter.com that seven Chilean wineries have been fined for not complying with government waste control regulations. I searched on your site for any other information on this and came across your article about winery waste in the Napa Valley in nov 02. I was just wondering whether waste control and toxic pollution is actively recognised and acknowledged in other countries and what (if any) initiatives are underway to respond to the problem. Is the problem still so widespread or have things improved since 2002?
