I'd like to hear your thoughts (and your readers') on the state of wine selection and service at private catered events. I go to many, many receptions and galas here in the Washington, DC area, and I am invariably disappointed in the quality, selection and service of the wines at these events. Nowadays caterers do a fantastic job with the food and decor at events, but we wine-knows usually have to be satisfied with good, safe, boring wines served in thick, heavy, small wineglasses. When are caterers going to realize that they need to step up their game when it comes to wine at...
