Off to ski in France and thirsty for wine tips

Don Jordan, London: Fired up by the Winter Olympics, we are off to Megève  in the Haut Savoie to catch the last of the winter fun. However, this not being a region especially known for its wine, does anyone have suggestions for what local wines might be worth looking out for on the lists of local restaurants?   me: Funnily enough, Don, we have had questions like this every year at about this time or earlier.
