Beyond Retsina - tips for visitors to Athens

We are shortly going to Athens for a city break. Retsina is the only Greek wine I have heard of, but it does not seem to have good press. What are the good wines of Greece to look out for, and are there any books to read about Greek wine?

There certainly are some very exciting modern Greek wines – more white than red arguably – but they are not cheap as there is a ready market for them in Greece.
