A skier's view of this week's wine of the week
8 Mar 2006 by JR
Patience Waddilove, Dorset: Visp and Vispertermin (see this week’s wine of the week ): thank you for passing along information on these wines. For those who haven't yet skied at Saas Fee in the canton of Wallis, and so haven't seen the vineyards where this wine is grown - go! There are the tinest parcels of vines all over the hillsides which are better referred to as 'almost-cliffs'. The highest vineyards in the world (several over 3,000 feet), and despite what the northern Rhône growers would have us think, probably the steepest. I haven't had this wine, but others from the area are breathtaking....
