How many wines can a wine judge judge?

Gary Wilson, IL: What are reasonable and maximum numbers of wines a professional judge can accurately taste and score in a day? Is this codified for serious competitions? me: Good question. I know of no codification and those who run competitions would doubtless argue that individuals vary in their capacity, concentration and stamina. In Australia, where the results of some wine shows can have extraordinary commercial significance, judges are sometimes expected to taste up to 200 wines a day, including some extremely potent fortified wines at the end of the day.
