The tasting term 'foursquare'

N Wilton, Melbourne: I often read the comment ‘foursquare’ describing various wines, most often clarets, but I am unsure what that exactly means. Could you please expand on this descriptor? me: Well may you ask. I remember reading the wine columns of my esteemed colleague Pamela Vandyke Price in The Times of London when I was just starting out in wine and thinking how amazingly clever she must be to describe a wine as ‘foursquare’. As time went by I started to wonder what on earth the term meant and I’m now none too sure it has much precision at all....
