Hugo Stewart, Les Clos Perdus, Peyriac de Mer: Calce, a small village in the Roussillon at the Mediterranean end of the Agly Valley, not far from Perpignan, had an open tasting day for all the wineries this last weekend. Calce is the home of Gérard Gauby and more recently a handful of young dynamic winemakers. I took with me a winemaker who knew some of the wines from the village and had assumed it to be at a reasonably high altitude, so was surprised how near the coast it was and not very high.
