Saran wrap really does cure TCA taint

Michael Alberty, Corkscrew Emporium, Urbana, IL: This past weekend I had an opportunity to try out the Saran wrap cure for a corked bottle of Herdade do Esporão, Touriga Naciona, Alentejo . We took enough Saran wrap [clingfilm] to make a ball the size of a golf ball and shoved it down the neck of the bottle so it could float in the wine. We shook the bottle a few times and waited about three minutes. I admit to being sceptical but I'll be darned if it didn't work. All of the aromas and flavours of TCA were gone. Completely.
