Are we threatening the world's supply of oak?

In times where everyone becomes increasingly environmentally conscious, I was wondering whether it is still ethical to consume oak aged wine? I read somewhere that it takes an oak tree about a century to reach maturity. Now, given a) the rapid growth of the wine industry all over the world b) the increased use of new oak and c) the fact that most of the oak used is concentrated in a few regions (Alliers, Nevers, etc.) I’m starting to have serious doubts about sustainability.
On a related point: are there any reliable figures on the proportion of wines that are oak aged?...
