Just how many Masters of Wine are there?

Andras Salamon, Johannesburg, South Africa: In 2003 you wrote "the 270-plus MWs" at http://www.jancisrobinson.com/articles/jr7097 and you also write "Fewer than 300 people [...] have qualified for those coveted initials" at http://www.jancisrobinson.com/articles/winecourses According to http://www.masters-of-wine.org/IMWMembers.aspx there are currently 251 of those of you sporting the title.  This is certainly less than 300 but also fewer than 270.  Or does the 251 exclude MWs who have passed away, or who have opted not to join the Institute?   me:...
