Notes from a Cheval Blanc dinner

Jean-Carlo and I hosted a Cheval Blanc dinner on Saturday for seven friends who share my passion for that estate. The 1990 is clearly very good, but I'm going to leave my two remaining bottles in the cellar for another five-plus years to develop. Alongside the 1982 , the 1990 seemed one-dimensional. The 1982 was in a class by itself and is the reason the word "other worldly" is a necessary part of wine lexicon. The 1989 was also very good, but I was most surprised by the 1988 which is very concentrated and has a long life ahead of it....
